After the success of the first series, Channel 4 commissioned a second series of Ackley Bridge for a total of 12 episodes! Filming started in January 2018 in Halifax and around West Yorkshire.
Over 200 Articulate kids have been working hard over several months filming a variety of scenes for the drama, including out on location and at the school itself.
The series follows the story of two schools that merge together, aiming to embrace their cultural differences that can sometimes come between them. The story delves into the relationships between students, teachers and their family lives, as well as exploring themes of religion, race, sexuality and teenage pregnancy.
The cast includes former Eastender Jo Joyner as headteacher Mandy Carter, Poppy Lee Friar and Amy-Leigh Hickman as school friends Missy and Nasreen, and Casualty star Sunetra Sarker as Nasreen’s mum and dinner lady Kaneez Paracha.
The kids always love filming for Ackley Bridge, often making new friends and building confidence as well and we’re super proud of all of them!Back to posts
