The BBC’s upcoming crime drama Virdee is set to be huge when it releases – it’s a series set and filmed in Bradford, based off of the acclaimed novels by A A Dand.
Articulate Young Performer George Kent (20) is on a roll – most recently, he landed a great role in BBC’s Doctors, as well as filming for ITV’s Emmerdale and Grace Series 4. You will have seen him in the hilarious Yorkshire Tea commercial last year as Skipton Alfie, which has over 2 million views on YouTube! Now he’s been cast in Virdee, and will be filming later this month. George is a brilliant young actor; he won the ‘Best Debut Performance Award’ at the 2020 BBC Radio Drama Awards.
Virdee is a six-part series, written by A A Dand and directed by Mark Tonderai. It follows Detective Harry Virdee, played by Game of Thrones and Rebel Moon actor Staz Nair, as he hunts down a serial killer in Bradford. His marriage to Saima, played by Shameless actress Aysha Kala, leads to his family to disowning him due to the couple’s religious differences.
We are always incredibly happy to be involved in productions that film locally in the North, and we hope George has a wonderful time on set. We can’t wait to see the series when it comes out!
