Articulate’s Austin Haynes (14) has been cast as a supporting character in the upcoming gritty film Jackdaw. Austin will head to Newcastle in December to film.
This has been a great year for Austin: The Railway Children Return came out in July, in which he played lead Thomas, the All Creatures Great and Small episode he guest starred in as Andrew Simmonds came out mid-October, and Somewhere Boy came out a few days later, where he plays Young Danny. He has also spent time filming for George Clooney’s The Boys in the Boat this year, and for Channel 4’s Youthless as lead character Jud. It’s no wonder he won the ‘Achievement in the Arts’ award at the Yorkshire Young Achievers earlier in November!
This new role perfectly demonstrates Austin’s fantastic Geordie accent. His accent work is exceptional and very advanced, especially for such a young actor. He has already been cast in seven professional roles which are not in his native Yorkshire accent, including Scouse, Cockney and American. The character he plays is confident and charismatic; we can’t wait to see Austin in this film!
