Summer Schools 2025!

Our Summer School mission is to provide children with an environment they can thrive in. We believe that fun, enthusiasm, creativity, confidence, team work and friendship should be at the centre of any Summer School, and that is certainly our ethos at Articulate. This year will be our 13th year of producing an annual Performing Arts Summer School. The past twelve years have been incredible and the school has gone from strength to strength, whilst the highly anticipated end of week performances just get better and better!

How it Works

Students are divided into 3 groups (according to age) and we rotate the groups between dance class, drama class and singing class. Students enjoy each discipline twice daily. We have two breaks and an hour at lunch to enjoy the sunshine!

On the Friday evening (at 6pm), we put on a show for our family and friends, which incorporates dance, drama and singing. Our emphasis is not on producing a west end show, but on improving every individual child’s confidence and skills. Every single child has an important role to play in our show, and that’s how we like it! This year, both of our shows will be in professional theatres – what an experience!

Timings

The day runs from 9am – 4pm. On Friday’s we keep the children from 9am – 7pm when the show finishes.

Childcare: We are open for arts and crafts, sport and musical activities (for those who require childcare) from 8am–9am (when the Performing Arts starts) and from 4pm (when Performing Arts finishes) to 5.30pm. We may be able to offer support to parents up until 6pm, but this needs to be requested, and approved, before booking the summer school.

A Note on Fees

For the past couple of years, Articulate has made a loss running summer schools due to the cost of hiring a professional theatre during our Ilkley week. The benefits of giving children an experience in a professional theatre though is something we are very passionate about and this year all Summer School shows will be in a professional theatre – including the Ilkley / Baildon week. We have also encountered rising costs in licensing, sound, microphones and professional lighting. We understand that price increases come as a disappointment to many, but we would like to remind our clients that the quality of the service offered is always exceptional and the children always have an incredible experience – and we’re still cheaper than standard childcare. Unfortunately, we are not able to offer a sibling discount this year.

Refund Policy

We are happy to issue a full refund to anyone who can no longer attend the summer school, providing we are notified by 25th April 2025, in writing, to dramaschool@articulatesdc.com. After this, refunds will not be issued for those who cannot attend.
